Creation of elevated comfort

  • It is hard to find travel wear, there is a gap in the market for a brand that specialises in specifically designed travel wear, and we are filling that gap! We want to create beautiful, and intentional garments that are elevated in their design, but with comfort as the number one priority.
  • We want you to feel your best – travel is stressful and then add in bloating (shout out to the IBS sufferers!) and tiredness. Having clothing you feel confident in allows you to look put together even if you are not feeling it, because – You’re Awesome!
  • Curating a capsule wardrobe that is not bland! Many “capsule wardrobes” are in plain colours of white, black and grey – we love a pop of colour! Each range is thoughtfully curated – different garments can be paired together to find your perfect combination.

 

Contribution to ethical and sustainable fashion

  • We aim to use natural fibres, trims and finishes where possible in our garments. This includes using cotton, linen, bamboo and corozo nut buttons. Not only is it better for the planet – these natural fibres feel great on you! Our mailing satchels are compostable, with 100% recycled card used for our thank-you postcards.
  • Local manufacture – we are Melbourne based and choosing a local garment manufacturer has a reduction in transportation footprint; allows for small minimum quantity orders which in turn reduces waste, high quality and durability means low fault rates and good fabric usage and ensures transparency and accountability with industry best practise. Where possible we work with Australian owned businesses throughout our supply chain.
  • We want inclusive, fair and safe work conditions for workers in all businesses we work alongside – from design to dispatch. We want respectful wages and entitlements for workers and promotion of onshore manufacturing here in Australia, which in turn serves and impacts on the broader community.

 

Connection to the natural world

  • Each of our ranges are designed on an individual species of bird! We use the beautiful colour palette from a bird species to inspire the colour palette of the range. Our logo includes a design of the Noisy Pitta, an Australian Rainforest bird – and a favourite bird species of our founder who is an ex-zookeeper!
  • Birds are found everywhere – no matter where you go in the world, you will find birds! They are masters of flight travel, have incredible diversity and connect all of us to the natural world. FlightWear is born from a love of travel and birds.
  • A percentage of our profits will be donated to bird conservation organisations. By supporting conservation efforts, we know that wildlife care, breeding, community education, habitat protection and revegetation help restore and reinstate ecological balance and biodiversity.
